Special Coverage Upgrade Packages Four of our companies, ABA Seguros, Grupo Nacional Provincial (GNP), Genworth Seguros, and ACE Seguros, offer an optional package that upgrade the basic policy. These are the most comprehensive tourist auto policies available for Mexico. Among the many features, these protection upgrades give you the peace of mind of repairing your car in the U.S. at U.S. labor rates of between $50 and $75 per hour rather the lower rates that apply in Mexico, depending on the type of vehicle. They also provide higher liability limits ranging from $170,000 from ABA Seguros, $150,000 per accident from GNP and Genworth, to $100,000/$300,000 per person/per accident and $100,000 Property Damage from ACE, increases medical payment coverage in case you are hurt, reduced deductibles, vandalism, reduce the deductibles for Theft and Collision, and more. When added to your "basic" Tourist Auto Policy as indicated in the space on the face page of your policy, and upon payment of the corresponding premium, this endorsement modifies and broadens coverage for damage and repair to the Insured Vehicle, Third Party Liability, Medical Expense coverage, and injuries to occupants of your vehicle caused by an at-fault Uninsured Driver (ACE), and waiver of deductible if damage to your vehicle is caused by an uninsured at-fault driver (GNP). Following is a description of the upgrade, by company.
1. Partial Theft Exclusion for partial theft is eliminated. Total Theft coverage is broadened to include payment for theft of parts and accessories only that are permanently attached to the Insured Vehicle, excluding sound reproduction and recording equipment such as but not limited to AM/FM radios, Cassette and CD players/recorders, and CB, UHF, and VHF radios. The deductible for Partial Theft is the same as the deductible amount for Total Theft as shown on the face page of your policy. 2. Minimum Deductibles for Vehicle Types Other Than Private Passenger Autos (e.g. Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Motor Homes, Motorcycles, Trailers) The Minimum Deductibles shown on the face page of your policy are reduced from $1,000 for Collision to $500, and from $1,500 to $1,000 for Theft. The deductible as a percentage of the vehicle value shown on the face page of your policy remains as shown. 3. Vandalism Vandalism, meaning willful and malicious damage to or destruction of the Insured Vehicle, is covered by this broadening endorsement. The deductible for Vandalism is the same as the deductible amount for Total Theft as shown on the face page of your policy. 4. Increased Cost of Repair If damages to the Insured Vehicle are repaired in the United States or Canada, the cost of repairs will be paid at an hourly labor rate varying from $50 to $75 per hour, depending upon the type of vehicle and insurance company. The Insured Vehicle will be considered a total loss at the option of the Company. The deductible applicable to repairs under this clause is the same as the deductible amounts shown on the face page of your policy. 5. Civil Liability for Property Damage and for Bodily Injury to Third Parties On ABA Seguros policies the limit of Liability is increased to $170,000 for all damages resulting from a covered accident. On GNP and Genworth policies the limit of liability is increased to $150,000 for all damages resulting from an accident. On ACE Seguros policies the Property Damage Liability limit of liability is increased to U.S.$100,000 and Bodily Injury Liability limit of liability is increased to U.S.$100,000 per person and U.S.$300,000 per accident. These limits will be shown on the face page of your policy. 6. Medical Expenses for Occupants of the Insured Vehicle The limit of liability for Medical Expenses on ABA Seguros policies is increased to $15,000 per person / $75,000 per accident, to $25,000 per accident on GNP policies, and to $5,000 per person / $25,000 per accident on Genworth and ACE policies. 7. Uninsured Motorist ACE Seguros: In the event that you are not at fault in an accident that results in injuries to the occupants of your vehicle and the driver of the at-fault vehicle is uninsured (e.g. does not have Automobile Civil Liability Insurance in Mexico), coverage for Medical Expenses for injuries to occupants of your vehicle is increased to $15,000 per person and $40,000 per accident. - GNP: If the other party is at-fault and does not have insurance your GNP policy will waive your deductible. GNP does not pay for additional Medical Expense if the at-fault driver is uninsured. The ABA Seguros and GNP waive the Collision deductible if the other party is at fault and does not have insurance.
