Following is a description of the types or categories of Property.
Coverage needed for a SINGLE FAMILY HOME YOU OWN
- The Dwelling: Covers the replacement cost of the main structure of your home, including attached garages and guest homes. You may elect to insure it on a “Actual Cash Value” basis, which is the cost to construct the home, less depreciation.
- Other Structures on the premises: Covers detached structures such as a garage, pool house, guest house, equipment room, etc., with the option to insure them for their replacement cost or actual cash value
- Personal Property in the home and away from the premises anywhere in Mexico, with the option to insure them on a replacement cost or actual cash value basis.
Certain types of property, such as jewelry, fine arts, sporting equipment, money and securities, etc. have special limits applying to them, which can be increased at your option for an additional premium.
Theft coverage on the premises applies up to 20% of total limit of your Personal Property limit.
- Loss of Use/Loss of Rental Income: Covers additional expenses you may incur if you need to live somewhere else while your home is being repaired due to a covered loss. If you rent your home to someone else, it covers the loss of rental income while your home is being repaired, up to a period of 12 months.
- Debris removal: Covers the cost to remove debris from a damage structure so that rebuilding may begin.
- Liability: You may select a limit of up to $1,000,000 to defend and protect you and family members from covered lawsuits brought within the Republic of Mexico.
- Medical Payments to Others: To avoid lawsuits, up to $1,000 is available for first aid and medical expenses that may be required for a non-family member who is injured on your property.
Coverage needed for a CONDOMINIUM or TOWNHOUSE UNIT you own
- Personal Property in the condominium unit - Personal Property in your home and away from the premises anywhere in Mexico, with the option to insure them on a replacement cost or actual cash value basis.
